The Athletic Association is tailoring the SEC Championship Game football ticket distribution system to curtail scalping.
A lottery for student ticket sales will be held Friday, said Freddy Jones, director of ticket operations for the Athletic Association.
Student Ticket Manager Kelly Lawrence said students will be able to sign up for the 1,500 tickets available to students at ticket window No. 4 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Students can scan their own UGACards for the lottery, but no one will be allowed to scan multiple IDs, Jones said.
“The following Monday, we will post the winners’ names,” he said.
Jones said the winners will have their UGA Cards scanned again and will be given “a special ID ticket” after paying the $25 ticket price.
Students must be present to pay and receive their ID ticket, Jones said, adding that no one will be able to pick up another person’s ID ticket or pay for another’s ticket.
“If they don’t show up, the ticket will go unused,” he said. “We just want to give the students that want to get into the game the best shot.”
Jones said students must pick up their game tickets on the day of the game at the Georgia Dome.
He said a UGACard and an ID ticket will be required to receive a ticket, and students must retrieve their own tickets.
Because football players and Redcoat Band members will be in uniform and will not have the opportunity to pick up tickets at the Georgia Dome, Jones said their use of multiple tickets will be nearly impossible.
