“5K for Paraguay” will be held at Stegeman Coliseum at 8 a.m. Saturday.

Registration fees will help 20 students go on a mission trip to Paraguay scheduled from May 11 through May 26 by the University’s Wesley Foundation.

The students will help construct a school and host vacation Bible school everyday for children in the city of Asuncion.

Several local restaurants and retail stores are sponsoring the event.

Registration begins at 7:30 a.m., and the race begins at 8 a.m. The fee is $15 in advance, but will be $18 on Saturday.

“It’s a great way to support a cause while being able to spend time with friends. And you get a cool T-shirt,” said Alyssa May a participant in the event.

Candace Curry, a member of the Welsey Foundation said, “I think it’s a good way for people to support our mission trip and it’s fun — there will be prizes.”
