Hilfiger to search for stars of a new reality show
CBS is holding an open casting call in Atlanta to search for stylist standouts for its upcoming reality show “The Cut.”
“We just want great people that love fashion,” said Jeff Ross, a casting producer who will be at the Oct. 16 casting call. “We want to find Suzie homemaker and the hip, young, smoking-hot college student.”
The 13-episode mini-series will begin taping in January and air on the network mid-season.

The show will be an “‘Apprentice’-style” show that will pit 16 contestants’ sense of fashion and creativity against one another on national television for a chance to win the grand prize — a clothing collection under the Tommy Hilfiger label, said Robyn Kass, another casting director for the show.
The show is targeting not only fashion and design insiders and students but 21-plus individuals with a variety of experience levels and from every walk of life.
“We are looking for people who are big characters, who are opinionated, that will stand up for their fashion and style even if it’s a little off the cuff,” Kass said.
Creativity is essential for hopeful contestants at the casting call and in applications, which are due Oct. 12 and are available on the CBS Web site (www.cbs.com), Ross said.
Talent and personality will be the top qualities, he said.
“We want to see their talent, personality and flair for fashion,” he said. “I encourage people to be very outgoing and creative. This is their one shot to sell themselves on why they would be a perfect pick to be on the show.”
Those chosen as contestants will share a loft in Soho, N.Y., during filming and will face real-world fashion challenges.
The work and skills of the aspiring designers will be rated weekly by Tommy Hilfiger and his “Style Council” of guest advisers, who will cut one contestant weekly.
Hilfiger’s enthusiasm about the show and involvement in every aspect is one of the exciting facets of the show, Kass said.
The ultimate grand prize winner will have the opportunity to be mentored by the influential designer.
“‘The Cut’ is going to give someone the opportunity of a lifetime and help that person achieve his or her dreams,” Hilfiger said in a release for the show.
Auditions will take place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Atlanta from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Applicants should bring the completed application, two pictures — one closeup and one full body, no head shots — a copy of a valid driver’s license and a Social Security card or passport.
