By on January 20, 2006

A female student reported a rape to University police Jan. 13, the first such reported occurrence this semester.

According to the police report, the student reported being raped by someone she knew while at Rutherford Hall.

The incident took place Saturday, Jan. 7, sometime between 1:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

She reported the rape to police Friday, Jan. 13 at 2:48 p.m.

No suspect is in custody yet, and police would not comment further on the case.

“We would not talk about anything being investigated,” said Capt. Lisa Boone.

This incident follows a string of rapes reported last semester, though it is only the second to have occurred on campus.

Of the four possible rapes reported by students last semester, only one was unfounded.

The remaining three – reported Aug. 29, Sept. 3 and Sept. 26, – took place at an off-campus party, a private residence and an East Campus Village dorm, respectively.
