Songstress obeys her muse at Melting Point
For some people, this thing called music just can’t be forced.
“Putting my thoughts to music is natural to me,” says singer/songwriter Jennifer Daniels, who plays tonight at 8 at The Melting Point Uncorked and Unplugged. “I’ve just always done it, and the desire to perform that music is likewise embedded in me.”
Daniels will bring both that desire and her other musical half, guitarist and mandolin player Jeff Neal, to a show that, if Daniels’ philosophy proves correct, should be enjoyable for all.
“Being on stage is like being the host at a party,” she said. “I want everyone to enjoy themselves, and to feel free to interact.”
The interaction comes, in large part, through the varying styles employed by the Tennessee-based duo.
“It’s a moody show, because there are a lot of fun, fast, cheerful songs, but then there are the brooding, melancholy ballads and also the fierce, angry slamming tunes,” said Daniels.
That same freedom of the live performances comes through in Daniel’s songwriting.
“I don’t ever force myself to write,” she said. “I find that creativity comes in cycles, and when I am inspired, then I stop whatever else I’m doing to ‘obey the muse.’”
Cost of admission is $5 at the door and bottles of wine are half off.
