Store offers red hot vintage wear
Lori Paluck-Beynart is dynamite.
The face behind the downtown vintage store Dynamite, Paluck-Beynart is a busy businesswoman who also owns 283 Bar on Broad Street. A graduate of Radford University in Virginia with a fashion merchandising and business administration degree, she has put her education to good use.
Paluck-Beynart’s best advice when shopping for used clothing is to look beyond labels.
“Just because something has a good label does not mean that it is a quality piece or that it is in fashion,” she said. “As long as you wear your clothing well, you wear it with confidence and it looks good, the name on the tag doesn’t matter.”
Paluck-Beynart said one of the best reasons to wear vintage is, “There is a unique style that comes with buying vintage clothing; chances are you are not going to run into someone on the street wearing the same jacket as you.”
Dynamite just opened in its new location on Jackson Street.
The boutique-like atmosphere includes brightly colored walls and pre-washed clothing.
The store, open from 12:30 to 6 p.m. daily, offers both men’s and women’s clothing. Retro style tuxedo shirts in red, yellow, white and blue line the walls of the men’s section, and there is a vast selection of jewelry and belt buckles at the front of the store.
Paluck-Beynart, who chooses to dress comfortably and still look like a million bucks, offered one of the most important reasons to shop vintage.
“I enjoy reselling clothing because it is recycling. There is no reason why clothes can’t be re-worn, and it’s good for the environment, too.”
