Schieber’s solo guitar comes to Hot Corner
Part of Atlanta’s acoustic scene hits Athens tonight, bringing soloist Brett Schieber to Hot Corner.
Classifying himself as “alternative-acoustic orchestral pop,” Schieber mostly plays acoustic shows.
“I’ve played in Athens a handful of times before,” he said. “I’ve enjoyed it each time. Athens is a fun town, and I wish I was able to spend more time there.”
He said he enjoys playing at Hot Corner “because it’s laid back and fun. Their hot chocolate is awesome.”
Schieber took his first guitar lesson in the first grade.
“My grandfather was a musician, so I was pretty much born with a guitar and drum sticks in my hand.”
He had a hard time putting into words how important music was to him.
“It helps me feel better when I’m down and when I’m happy, it helps me find meaning in my life, it’s given me the opportunity to have many great experiences and meet many great people – it just means everything to me,” he said
His newest CD, “Life From Generation XS,” supports an array of instruments including guitar, drums, cello and viola.

He said everything he listens to, such as Duran Duran and Guster, inspires his music
His lyrics “come from personal experiences, thoughts and ideas and even just character stories,” Schieber said.
“I have always had a very strong need to share my songs with others,” he said.
His love of music isn’t driven by popularity. He believes his future definitely has music in it, and although he’d love to be famous, he just loves making noise.
“I see a future of being a bald, old man singing in a coffee shop to people who aren’t paying attention, but I close my eyes anyway, get lost in my song, and keep on plugging away because it’s just what makes me happy.”
