Thirteen wanted in fake ID ring
University Police are looking for 13 University students who are facing fake ID possession and distribution charges. Police issued the warrants for the students’ arrest Friday.
Last month U.S. Postal Inspector Gary Nork of Phoenix informed University Police of the shipment of fraudulent IDs from the University, according to the reports.
Juan Sebastian Calle, a freshman from Roswell, is being charged with three counts of possession of a fraudulent ID, three counts of distribution of fraudulent ID documents and one count of possession of fraudulent ID documents with intent to distribute.
Eric David Spett, Calle’s roommate and a freshman from Atlanta, is being charged with possession of a fraudulent ID and possession of a fraudulent ID with intent to distribute.
Joseph Frederick Savoca, Tanner Seth Strickland, Chaz Carter Davis and Kai Feng are being charged with possession of a fraudulent ID.
Strickland, an offensive lineman for the football team who graduated high school in December to join the team early, declined to comment.
Head coach Mark Richt said the team would deal with the issue “in-house.”
“We’ll wear him out real good,” Richt said.
Russell Anderson Smith, Alexander John Campolo, Adrianna Cecelia Samaniego, Megan Jane Clayton, Michael Joseph Levene, Lisa Cara Pastor and Georgia Collette Glidewell are being charged with the criminal attempt of possession of a fraudulent ID.
University of Georgia Police Lt. Lisa Boone said because the case still is under investigation she could provide no further information as of press time.
Boone did say, however, that since only a short time has elapsed since the warrants were issued, it’s likely some of the students already have turned themselves in.
