Two Georgia football players were arrested on alcohol charges early Sunday, bringing the number to four players who’ve been arrested in the past year.

Third-string quarterback Blake Barnes and starting tight end Tripp Chandler were booked into the Athens Clarke County jail Sunday and released two hours later.

Barnes, booked as David Blake Barnes, 21, was charged with open containters and furnishing alcohol to minors, both misdemeanors. He was booked at 6:35 a.m. and released at 8 a.m. after posting $2,000 bond. Chandler, booked as James Henry Chandler, 20, was charged with open containers and underage possession, both misdemeanors. He entered jail at 6:17 a.m. and was released at 8:26 a.m. after posting $1,000 bond.

Linebacker Akeem Hebron was suspended from the University in May following his second arrest for underage possession and will not be able to return until the spring semester of 2008. In fall 2006, offensive lineman Tanner Strickland was charged with possession of a fradulent I.D.
