Students needing help in the classroom have many different options.

The office of the Division of Academic Enhancement offers free appointment-based tutoring at the Milledge Academic Center.

The tutoring provides help in math, foreign languages, English and business courses. The tutoring sessions, which last 50 minutes, are scheduled hourly. Students may schedule two appointments per class, per week.

“The peer tutors understand the challenges that students face very well, providing an important supplement to the information students receive in class,” said Tina Venus, the academic coordinator for housing.

If appointments cannot be made, students can attend drop-in sessions in Russell Hall or the Student Learning Center or receive help online.

“As a freshman, I definitely plan on using it for English. It is great that the services are so spread out,” said Anna Bradley, a freshman from Dalton.

Drop-in tutoring is available for chemistry, math, Spanish, physics and writing courses.

“They look over your work when they meet you, which is something that professors do not always have time to do,” said Amanda Bertoch, a sophomore from Sandersville.

If students wish to utilize the online option for University math or statistics courses, they should first register at www.nettutor.com. There are two options available to receive assistance.

The first is to post a question to the question and answer center. The second is chatting with a tutor Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 10 p.m.- midnight.

Test review sessions are available for students in Statistics 2000. The test review sessions are located in the Student Learning Center from 4-6 p.m., and the first session is set for Sept. 10.
