For nearly a year, Figgie’s at Five, a series of concerts featuring a variety of musical artists, has been held at the Georgia Museum of Art.

Bonnie Ramsey, the director of communications for the museum, said the venue’s environment and convenient location has attracted numbers of students.

“It is a relaxed atmosphere, a chance at the end of the day to enjoy listening to music in a small, intimate setting that is on campus,” Ramsey said.

Also, visitors have a chance to browse the museum’s galleries and exhibitions.

“Currently we have a large print show showcasing the works of Southern artists in the South and a retrospective of a 20th century painter, John Grabach,” Ramsey said.

An eclectic mix of musicians has performed at Figgie’s.

Hillary Brown, special relations editor at the museum, said some of the previous performers who have played are Kyshona Armstrong, Tin Cup Prophette, Mark Maxwell and The Lyric League.

“Upcoming this Wednesday we have Peter Alvanos [Fabulous Bird],” said Brown.

Healthy Gourmet provides concert goers with light refreshments.

Ramsey said the purpose of the series is to ensure that each month, people will have a chance to come to the museum, hear music and enjoy themselves.

“Whether it is a date night or meeting friends, people know they can count on the last Wednesday of the month for music at the museum.”

The series was named after a museum patron who refused credit for donations while alive. After his death, the museum decided to honor him in the series’ name.
