Hailing from Austin, Texas, rock band Lions will put on a show tonight at Tasty World filled with ’70s hard rock riffs.

Playing with local bands Amplified Heat, Mikey Dwyer & the Starter-Kits and Honey, the “Lions are guaranteed to melt your face,” said Fritz Gibson, the manager of Tasty World.

The band is comprised of Matt Drenik on lead vocals and guitar, Jake Perlman on drums, Trevor “T-Rev” Sutcliffe on bass, and Austin Kalman on lead guitar and backing vocals.

“The band was born above a dive bar in South Austin, Texas,” Drenik said. “We’ve toured and slept on floors for years. We take those people, places, dirty and beautiful and put them into the songs.”

Having just released its debut album “No Generation” on Oct. 9, produced by Fifth Column, the Lions have been touring the country since its formation in 2005.

“They have a song on the next Guitar Hero video game installment – so soon enough, rockers and gamers worldwide will be hearing (and playing) their unusual brand of mayhem,” according to the Fifth Column Web site.

“‘Metal Heavy Lady’ off of (our EP) Volume 1 will be on Guitar Hero III,” Drenik said. “We met some of the Activision folks at SXSW 2007 (the South by Southwest Interactive Festival) when they saw our showcase from the street.”

“They couldn’t get into the venue, so, while on stage, we started yelling at security to let all the people in.”

Drenik said the audience can expect to have fun at the show and some surprises.

“Who knows – high energy rock ‘n’ roll, good fun, maybe get laid,” Drenik said.
