“We are very excited about continuing in the NIT Season Tip-Off and playing back-to-back games at Stegeman Coliseum in front of our fans,” Georgia head coach Dennis Felton told georgiadogs.com.

“We will be hosting some high-quality programs from different parts of the country. I can’t think of a better way for Georgia fans to spend their time, going into the Thanksgiving holiday, than supporting this fine tournament and our team.”

Purdue, Alabama-Birmingham, Oklahoma and Boston College advanced to the tournament semifinals next week at the Madison Square Garden in New York, and the remaining 12 teams will compete in the first-ever consolation bracket.

Santa Clara and Mississippi Valley State did not win a game in the opening round in Tucson, Ariz. and Norman, Okla., respectively.

Arizona defeated Florida Atlantic on Monday before losing on a foul-gaffe to UAB Tuesday. With 0.8 seconds remaining, Arizona’s Jamelle Horne intentionally fouled UAB enabling the team to hit a game-winning free throw.

Student tickets will be $4 and will go on sale at 4:15 p.m. on gamedays. Tickets will be good for both games.

Swimmers, divers clean up weekly conference awards

The success of Georgia’s swimming and diving teams translated into hardware as three members of Georgia’s program earned awards from the Southeastern Conference.

Sophomore diver Hannah Moore was named SEC Diver of the Week, and freshmen swimmers Wendy Trott and Peter Benner each were named Freshman of the Week.

Moore’s award was the second of her career and first this season. Trott earned her second award in three weeks, and Benner’s was the first of his collegiate career.

The next home meet for the men’s and women’s swimming teams in Friday against Emory at 5:30 p.m.
