Diamond Dog catcher Massanari named to preseason All-America team

Georgia senior catcher Bryce Massanari has been named to the 2009 CollegeBaseballInsider.com Preseason Honorable Mention All-America Team, it was announced Thursday.

Massanari started 65 games for the Bulldogs in 2008 and was a first team All-SEC selection after batting .325 with 11 home runs and 65 RBI. He had a team-high 30 two-out RBI and registered a career-best 18-game hitting streak during Georgia’s run to the SEC title. Massanari was also named to the NCAA Athens Regional All-Tournament team after hitting .500 (10-for-20) with a home run and six RBI.

A native of Las Vegas, Nev., Massanari has also been named preseason All-America by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.

Georgia opens the season Friday against Youngstown State.
