Georgia offensive lineman Vince Vance certainly wasn’t alone when he tore his right ACL last season, adding his name to a long list of injury-plagued Bulldogs.

And though he’ll be limited in spring practice, he said Wednesday his recovery is coming along well.

“I’m going strong,” he said. “I’m jogging in the pool, doing light squats. I’m coming back slowly but surely.”

Following left tackle Trinton Sturdivant’s preseason knee injury, Vance was the second Bulldog offensive lineman to go down in 2008 when he sustained his injury against Tennessee, leaving the O-line even younger and more inexperienced.

“I hear that a lot of people when they come back at first they’re not really sure about themselves, but I’m really ready to go and I’m ready to go back out there,” he said.

He’s also hoping the rash of injuries Georgia endured in a disappointing 10-3 season bodes well for its upcoming campaign.

“Injury-wise, it just wasn’t our year,” he said. “But I look at it this way, since we had all those injuries last year, maybe this season nobody gets hurt. That’s what I’m hoping for.”

Countdown to the end of MAT drills begins: With spring practice set to begin in less than two weeks, linebacker Rennie Curran is ready for the Bulldogs’ exhausting “offseason” MAT drills to be over.

“MAT drills are killing me,” he joked. “Nah, they’re not killing me. Once I’m doing them I’m good, but once I get in class it starts to hit me and I’m just like [snoring noise].”

The Bulldogs’ first spring practice will be on Wednesday, March 11, meaning an end to endurance- and strength-focused MAT drills. It also signifies a return to the practice field.

Curran couldn’t be happier.

“I know we only have three [MAT drills] left, so I’m counting down,” he said.
