Class plans benefit concert for Nuci’s Space

A class assignment for a worthy cause, led to one great concert at Nu�i’s Space.
The event which was held Friday and sponsored by the Recreation and Leisure Studies Department, was organized by students as part of a class assignment for Intergrated Event Design.
“It was kind of a final project for us,” said Adam McClure, a senior from Brunswick who worked on the event with about seven other students from the class.
In preparation for the event,the students worked with the Nu�i’s Space staff leading up to the event so that they could take over on Friday night
“We took it upon ourselves, and we had percentage nights to raise money,” McClure said. The students also took a test so they could serve beverages from the bar. McClure designed fliers for the event and T-shirts that were sold to raise additional money for Nu�i’s Space.
“Hopefully we’re going to be able to generate over seven or $800 to give to Nu�i’s, just with the T-shirts alone,” McClure said.Nu�i’s Space is a non-profit health and music resource center that strives to promote and provide mental health for musicians at low or no costs.
On the cozy stage, groups performed a wide variety of originals and crowd favorites.
The show began with blues rock group Southern Cured, and acoustic guitarist Daniel Ecke followed with a solo set. The third group was the energetic rock quintet, South of Proper and Rachel Farley out of Lawrenceville headlined the show.
