Softball eliminated from WCWS

OKLAHOMA CITY – Eighth-ranked Georgia’s run at the Women’s College World Series came to an end on Sunday night as the Bulldogs fell to the third-ranked Washington Huskies, 9-3, at the ASA Hall of Fame Stadium.

Georgia finishes its 2009 season with a 47-12 record including a 3-2 mark at the WCWS.

Georgia softball set a Women’s College World Series record by hitting four home runs in a game en route to a 7-5 victory over the Michigan Wolverines.

The Bulldog power clinic came at the expense of Michigan’s two All-American pitchers Nikki Nemitz and Jordan Taylor, neither of whom had an answer for the young Bulldog bats.

Florida State breaks open game late, tops Diamond Dogs 8-2 at NCAA Regional

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State broke open a two-run game with four runs in the eighth inning and defeated Georgia 8-2 in the winner’s bracket game of the NCAA Tallahassee Regional Saturday at Dick Howser Stadium.

The Bulldogs (38-23) will face Ohio State in an elimination game Sunday at noon on ESPNU. The winner will face Florida State (44-16) at 4 p.m. Georgia, which beat Ohio State 24-8 on Friday, needs three straight wins to advance to the Super Regional.

Softball to begin uphill WCWS climb against Missouri

Georgia softball has thrived when their backs were against the wall this NCAA Tournament and will need to continue that trend to avoid elimination on Saturday.

The Bulldogs (44-11) will face the Missouri Tigers in a must-win scenario in Women’s College World Series at the ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City, Okla at noon on Saturday.

Diamond Dogs head into NCAA Regional action

The Georgia baseball team opens NCAA Regional action today in Tallahassee as it takes on Ohio State at noon. Florida State and Marist are also in the regional.

TOLEDO, Ohio – Unable to recapture its early morning magic, the Georgia men’s golf team was eliminated from the NCAA Championship in the match play semifinals on Friday.

The eighth-seeded Bulldogs dropped a 3-1-1 decision to fourth-seeded Arkansas, which will meet seventh-seeded Texas A&M on Saturday for the national championship at the Inverness Club.

TOLEDO, Ohio – About the only thing that could stop Georgia’s Russell Henley at the NCAA Championship on Wednesday was the weather. Henley shot a 4-under-par 67, including a streak of four straight birdies, to take over the individual lead at the Inverness Club.
