Bulldogs must do better
(This letter will try to maintain an objective view of Coach Mark Richt and the job he is doing since he arrived in 2001.)
Coach: You have done a respectable job for straightening out the prior coaching messes since Coach Dooley. That being said, that just isn’t good enough. The day you decided to accept your big contract is the day the rules changed. Looking up SEC football coaching contracts, I see that you are 5th in salary behind Nick Saban, Les Miles, Urban Meyer, and Bobby Petrino (ARE YOU KIDDING ME?). Throwing out the Arkansas joke, that puts you in the upper tier for SEC coaching pay. HOWEVER, your overall results over nine years are second tier at best.
Let us analyze. Nick Saban: Looking like two 12-0 regular seasons in a row, ONE national championship (at LSU), possibly one this year. Les Miles: ONE national championship. Urban Meyer: TWO national championships, possibly a third this year in only five years on the job. Mark Richt: Two SEC titles.
It seems to me by pure analysis that we are being shortchanged. Like mentioned before, when you decided to make the big bucks, you put yourself in a position to produce results comparable to your peers.
Winning an average of ten games a year means nothing if you don’t win championships. AND, you certainly can’t hang your hat on the class shown by your team on and off the field. So, exactly what are we hanging our hat on?

Fans should support the players
I’ve been a bulldog fan since I was born.
I’ve seen highs and I’ve seen lows, but I’ve never been as ashamed to be a bulldog fan as I was Saturday night in Sanford. No, it’s not because of what was happening on the field.it’s what was happening off the field. Sure, some things didn’t go our way; we turned the ball over a few times; we made some mistakes. Those players are out there killing themselves on the field trying to win the ball game. Yeah they made some mistakes, but THEY’RE the ones on the field looking to US for support. A lot of those guys won’t make it to the pro’s and they know it. For many, this was their last shot to play football in front of their home crowd and feel like they’re a part of something special, and what did those players see and hear? They heard booing from their own fans and they saw a lot of emptying seats and fans leaving. What a majority of the fans, both student and non, did last night was to make the players on the field and on the sidelines feel like garbage and is completely deplorable. Next time you people are at a home game, think about what the players are going through on the field and how maybe they could use some SUPPORT from their own fans before calling for someone’s head or booing. I don’t know about any of you, but I’d hate to look back on my time at UGA and remember my last game at Sanford Stadium with people booing me and saying I suck. Think about it!

Bulldogs have discipline problems
What has happened to our Bulldogs? Why are we not able to win important games? Why are we 117 in penalties? Ultimately, our Bulldogs have a discipline problem: we cave under pressure, and we fail to control ourselves on the field. Our lack of discipline is a direct result of poor coaching. If Mark Richt can\’t fix this problem, then we need to find someone who can. Our loss to Kentucky is embarrassing and unacceptable. The Bulldog Nation deserves better.
