Georgia sophomore Marta Silva Zamora has been tabbed as the SEC’s Women’s Golfer of the Week, the league office in Birmingham, Ala., announced on Thursday.

Last week, Silva Zamora finished as the individual runner-up at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic. She fired rounds of 70-69-73 to finish at 4-under 212 and post her third top-five finish in six stroke play events during the 2009-10 campaign.

In the process, the Santiago de Compostela, Spain, native lowered her season stroke average to 71.73, well under the Georgia record of 72.63. Silva Zamora has recorded eight par-or-better scores in 15 rounds played this season.

Georgia will return to action on March 1-3 when the Bulldogs compete at the Kinderlou Forest Challenge in Valdosta, Ga.
