Diamond Dog catcher charged with DUI
Georgia baseball player Brett DeLoach was arrested on several charges during the weekend, including a charge of DUI alcohol.
DeLoach, a 19-year-old catcher for the Diamond Dogs, was booked at 7:01 p.m. Friday on charges of DUI alcohol, underage possession of alcohol, improper driving and failure to yield right of way. He was released at 9:49 p.m. on $3,000 bond.
Last season DeLoach batted .277 with two home runs and 15 RBIs for the Diamond Dogs.
Under rules set forth by the University Athletic Association, a student-athlete’s first alcohol-related arrest requires an automatic suspension of 10 percent of the season, which would be six games for the Diamond Dogs.
