Chance Veazey will appear on a special episode of the series “Ultimate Outdoors” Monday

During the 30-minute show, viewers will get to know Chance and get the opportunity to hear his story and to learn how even though life has dealt him an unimaginable hardship, he continues to fight for himself and for others. Chance gets the opportunity to go on a huge Whitetail hunt, a quail hunt, and hosts an Auction and skeet shoot with many celebrity athletes and coaches in order to raise money for others in similar situations.

Monday’s show featuring Veazey will air again on Wednesday, July 14 at 3:30 a.m. ET and Saturday, July 17 at 1 p.m. ET. Charter Cable in Athens has the Outdoor Channel on 307 as part of its Sports View package. The Outdoor Channel is on 606 on Direct TV and 396 on the Dish Network. Check your local listings for the channel in your area.

Along with his passion for baseball, Veazey is an avid outdoorsman. A 5-9, 175-pound native of Tifton, Ga., Veazey earned the starting second base job following fall baseball practice. However, his life changed forever on October 28, 2009 when shortly after leaving a study session on campus at the Miller Learning Center, he was involved in a scooter accident. Currently, he is paralyzed from the waist down.

Veazey has maintained a positive attitude throughout his rehabilitation and completed his fall semester classes online while recuperating back home. A pre-business major, he plans to return to UGA this fall.

Ex-Bulldog Compton To Be Profiled On HBO Show

Former Georgia golfer Erik Compton, who has undergone two heart transplants, will be profiled in the upcoming edition of Real Sports With Bryant Gumbel on HBO.

The episode featuring Compton will debut on Wednesday at 9 p.m.

When Compton was 12, he required a heart transplant due to viral cardiomyopathy and he took up golf as part of his recovery and rehabilitation. He was an All-American during his two years at Georgia (2000 and 2001) before turning pro. In 2008, Compton underwent another transplant after suffering a heart attack. He returned to professional golf five months later. The 30-year-old recently made headlines when he qualified for the U.S. Open. Since turning pro in 2001, Compton has earned six professional victories, three coming on the Canadian Tour.

“Erik has been through so much in his life, but he refuses to let anything slow him down or stand in his way,” Georgia coach Chris Haack said. “He’s been an inspiration to so many people, including myself, and I’m glad he’s going to be on this HBO program. Erik has never quit and never thought about giving up, and this program will show that to the world.”
