UGA students place second in collegiate bass championships

By on July 13, 2010

Ben Cleary is on a roll, or perhaps a reel.

The University student and expert angler teamed up with UGA student Randy Tolbert to earn second place at the sixth annual College Bass National Championship on Brewer Lake in the Ozarks over the weekend. The pair’s catch tipped the scales at 11.53 pounds.

Jonas Ertel and Tyler Moberly from Eastern Kentucky University took home the title weighing in at 21.39 pounds while Dustin Connell and Daniel Taylor of the University of Alabama claimed third with 7.88 pounds

Cleary teamed up with University graduate Bo Page in May to win the 2010 Boat US Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship, and the $6,000 first-place prize that went along with it.

In that event, Cleary and Page reeled against more than 300 anglers from across the United States and caught a combined weight of 36.4 pounds.
