Corless named preseason All-SEC soccer team
Georgia senior defender and team captain Kelli Corless was named to the 2010 Preseason All-SEC women’s soccer team, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Corless is no stranger to conference recognition as she was previously named to the preseason team as a sophomore in 2008 and was the 2007 SEC Freshman of the Year as well as first team All-SEC and All-Freshman.
The Acworth, Ga., native has started all 61 games since arriving at Georgia and has a career line of three goals and 12 assists for 18 points. She has served the last three seasons as the Bulldogs’ corner kick and occasional free kick specialist and in 2009 played all 90 minutes a total of 15 times.
Florida led all schools with five selections to the squad while Auburn, Ole Miss, and South Carolina each had two. The preseason All-SEC team, as voted by the league’s coaches, consists of a minimum of 11 players. Each coach voted for five attackers, five defenders, and one goalkeeper. No ties were broken.
