A.J. Green appeal to NCAA moved to Friday

By on September 16, 2010

The NCAA’s appeal hearing regarding the suspension of wide receiver A.J. Green has been postponed until Friday.

“I’m not even sure who’s involved in that from our Athletic Association, but Friday is the day,” Georgia head coach Mark Richt said.

When asked whether or not the NCAA would make an actual ruling on the appeal, Richt said he “hoped so.” Green has two games remaining of a four-game a suspension after violating NCAA rules for selling one his game-worn jerseys to a buyer that the NCAA categorized as an agent.

Green has continued practicing with the team in the case that he can return early.

Richt says the junior wideout will play as soon as the NCAA clears him.

“It’s not as big of an issue this week, because we basically prepared that he wasn’t going to be in the game,” Richt said. “For the other two, we were really hopeful, but we weren’t really sure what was going to happen. This week we just started on the premise that he would not play, and if turns out he can play, we certainly can use him.”
