Georgia’s Athletic Board approved design studies for Foley Field last May, according to sports information director Christopher Lakos.

This means talks have begun with various Athletic Association personnel about what kind of projects they would like to see done at Foley Field.

For example, coaches discuss the field, stadium, locker room, training room and needs of the student-athletes, Lakos said.

Also, officials ensure designs are ADA compliant in all areas while members of the sports communication staff provide their input about the press box.

But Lakos said specifics about what upgrades the Athletic Board will take on and which steps will be taken next will not be released until at least May.

Foley Field was built in 1966 and named after judge Frank Foley

The field last underwent renovations in 1990, when it was refurbished at the cost of $3.5 million.

In the summer of 2003, a new drainage system and playing surface were installed.

Foley Field has a capacity of 3,291, although its largest crowd was 4,461 against Mississippi State on March 21, 2009.

The field hosted NCAA Regionals in 2001, 2004, 2006 and 2008.

Georgia boasts a stellar postseason record at home, having won every Regional and Super Regional they have contested at Foley Field.

Overall, the Bulldogs are 21-7 in NCAA postseason play and 16-0 in elimination games at their home stadium.
