Production Assistant/Graphic Artist – (Download pdf application)

This is a student staff position requiring availability of 5-15 work hours per week with a schedule running concurrent with UGA class schedule. The ideal candidate should be interested in computer graphics, advertising design, newspaper layout and industry-standard software such as the Adobe Creative Suite of applications.

Requirements:

- Registered UGA student

- Minimum of 5 hours per week

- Maximum of 15 hours per week

- Knowledge of Apple computers and layout software helpful.

Responsibilities:

- All production staff must learn both advertising and editorial production as necessary

- Designing of advertisements according to customer layouts in InDesign, Illustrator or Photoshop

- Scanning in art, photos and halftones. Typesetting and proofing

- Ensuring that everything possible has been done to meet advertisers’ needs and expectations

- Building layout pages for the daily Red & Black paper

- Proofing editorial and advertising copy on final pages.

- Sending final pages via FTP to our printer.

- Any other duties that may aid in the Production of The Red & Black.
