No one expected to bury another Uga so soon.

Less than 18 months since his coronation as mascot of the Georgia football team, Loran's Best - also known as Uga VII - died suddenly Thursday morning, leaving the Bulldog Nation in a collective state of shock.

Like most college students, Curry Andrews uses her debit card frequently.

The junior from Atlanta regularly makes small payments for items such as a cup of coffee, a small snack or toiletries.

"Really small payments," Andrews said. "None of them would be over $5.

No flying cars. No robot Bulldogs. The University of 2020 you may have imagined in kindergarten will not become a reality any time soon. At least, not according to the University Strategic Planning Committee. The University renews its accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools every 10 years, and as part of that process, the University must develop a plan to govern the next decade's goals for improvement.

The goal was clear for the Georgia volleyball team last weekend: it needed to win one out of two home games against solid opponents in order to have a chance to get into the NCAA Tournament.

After losing to Kentucky and Tennessee, it now seems as if the Bulldogs (15-13, 6-11 SEC) are on the outside looking in when it comes to playing into the month of December.

Georgia's interior players were expected to bear the brunt of the offensive load this season.

Georgia coach Mark Fox talked about the quartet in the preseason, saying he thought the returning veterans in the post would "anchor the team."

However, even Fox couldn't have projected just how little help the Georgia frontcourt has received in its first two games, with sophomore Trey Thompkins, juniors Chris Barnes and Jeremy Price, and senior Albert Jackson scoring 77 of the 124 points.

After nearly 20 years on the music scene, Edwin McCain still feels the same passion when he steps out on stage each night.

"I don't feel any different than when I was playing at the frat houses," McCain said. "Performing allows me to play music for a living and do what I absolutely love to do.

Time to get superficial, because let's face it, when it comes to physical attraction we all have our weaknesses. For instance, he only likes them tall, while that guy only dates the wind swept brunettes. She goes after the shaggy blondes, but that girl can't get enough of the ultimate six-pack.

The pornography industry earns about $13 billion a year. About 75 percent of prime time network television includes sexual content. Why is it then that the "walk of shame," still exists if society is exposed to so much sex? We've all seen the walk of shame … or have done it ourselves.

But on the next play, rarely-used receiver Israel Troupe, inserted for Green, hauled in a 50-yard touchdown pass.

For University alumnus Ernest Greene, making music has proven to be not only a deeply-rooted passion but a genre-defying journey across the musical spectrum. According to Greene, who records and performs under his stage name Washed Out, he arrived at his current style of airy, lush and often dance-worthy electronic music via a stint as a hip-hop producer.

CALL OF DUTY: MODERN WARFARE 2 Among the range of human experiences, warfare is so unique that those of us who have not lived through its peaks and valleys cannot hope to understand it. At the same time, warfare is such a universal part of the human condition that artists have attempted to portray it since the beginning of art itself.

listen up!: Timi Conley, Kings of Convenience, Weezer

TIMI CONLEY Nerd Sexy Local musician Timi Conley's new album, "Nerd Sexy," provides a variation of music styles blended into a new hybrid of pop music. There is no flow to the album, making for a random and sporadic listen, but it seems this is how Conley intended it: The cover art screams early '90s pop music, the opening song is reminiscent of a '50s "American Bandstand" cliché, and threads hints of modern techno-pop, jazz and blues.
