A group of children were chased by five people dressed in clown costumes with masks Tuesday night, according to Athens-Clarke County police.
The clowns chased the children as they left the East Athens Community Center on McKinley Drive where the clowns parked their white panel van for some time.
The children, between ages 7 and 10 "ran away in terror" to their respective homes, the report said.
A woman overheard the children talking about the incident which prompted her to call police. The woman told police she saw the clown's white van driving slowly up Baker Street early that day.
Police have set up extra patrols in that area.
