Man dressed as clown arrested after smoking meth at Waffle House in downtown Athens

Athens-Clarke County police arrested a man dressed as a clown at the Clayton Street Waffle House early morning March 1 after he allegedly smoked meth in the restaurant.

According to a police report, a employee called police and said a man with red hair wearing a clown suit locked himself in the bathroom after smoking methamphetamine at the counter.

When police arrived they noticed a smoking pipe with residue inside and a book bag near where the man was seated. Employees unlocked the bathroom and found Jacob Worthington, 25, standing by the sink. Police escorted him out of the bathroom, according to the report.

When asked if Worthington had any weapons, he said he had a knife in his pocket. Police reportedly searched him and his backpack after he confirmed that the items on the counter were his. Inside the bag, police found a digital scale, a jar of marijuana, a jar of mushrooms, a gold keepsake jar containing more marijuana and an unidentified white powder. Police also found LSD wrapped in foil and rolling papers, as well as a deck of cards containing Worthington's ID on his person.

Worthington was arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute Schedule I and II narcotics, possession of Schedule I and II narcotics, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, and possession of drug-related objects.

Worthington is being held at Clarke County jail on a bail posted at $8,500.
