Ok, this situation is very unfortunate. But who are any of you to judge this girl that you dont even know. Are you better than her because you go to UGA, or you are in a sorority/fraternity? No. This girl, who i have personally grown up with,
has been through more than any of you can imagine, did you consider that when you made your judgements? No. It was wrong and she knows it, and will suffer the consequences. There is no point in dragging her down any more than she already is.

OMG Guys this is something that Frannie would have totally tried to pull back when she was Pres of the Zeta Beta Zetas. Now that I'm President and we're back having parties with those hot Omega Chis, it's clear sailing ahead! I wonder what sorority she was rushing? No way it was us.

Come to think of it, why not allow non-UGA students into fraternities and sororities? They're just big social clubs for the 18-25 crowd, right? Why should it matter whether they go to the same school?

This is a sad story that seemed to bring out the worst in some of the commentators. Ashley is a young lady who requires our sympathy not our condemnation. Sadder than Ashley's need to live in a world totally of her own making, is some of the cruel and heartless comments posted here. I know that many of you are young and tend to see either black or white, good or evil. Your simplistic views of events do not allow you to see the many shades of gray, nor the spectrum of good and evil. Your lack of compassion tells me that you too have some unresolved issues. I hope that along with the fine education you can receive at UGA you will also become more humane and less judgemental. I also hope that you and your loved ones now and in the future never commit a crime to fit in, find comfort, or feel accepted by your peers. I hope you are always secure, loved, and have a healthy level of self-esteem. You are fortunate to have been accepted into Georgia's flagship institution of higher education, now show that you are worthy of the honor by exhibiting humility, compassion, and maturity. Good luck to all of you. Life is nothing like the wonderful four (or five or even six) years you will spend up here.

Firstly, I would like to say thank you to those individuals who pointed out the obvious grammar flaws from the previous threads.
Students who were accepted into UGA worked diligently in their classes and more than likely contributed countless hours in extracurricular or co-curricular activities. Being accepted to UGA is an honor considering the university's countless awards and rankings. Posing as a UGA student is disrespectful to the students that deserve to be there. When students from GSU portray themselves as UGA students, it detracts from the prestige of the University of Georgia. If a student wishes to attend UGA, then he or she should put in the work to be accepted.
Cruel and heartless comments? Mistake? Identity theft is not a "mistake". It took "Miss Williams" (quotes since I can't really consider her a lady) time, thought and effort to commit this "mistake" which is also known as a CRIME! Claire Derr, if it were your identity that were stolen, do you truly believe that you be as kind with your comments? Highly doubtful. You are right, however, about our "unresolved issues". Our issues are those that stem from having community college students interfere with our educational experiences. The social events, organizations, parties, etc are rewards and advantages that are reserved for STUDENTS of UGA! Students that put in the effort to be accepted. Students that chose the correct path of hard work over delinquency. We are defending the "flagship institution of higher education" and showing that we are worthy by speaking-up in the university's defense. I will say there are indeed many shades of gray in many life situations. Miss Williams obviously has deep psychological issues that she needs to address. Her lack of self-esteem or what have you is a reason for her behavior; however, her issues in no way justify or excuse her illegal actions. Perhaps she should have gone to ITT Tech instead.
Lastly, there are many students at community colleges that are just as good as those at Ivy League schools. Life takes a different direction for everyone. Actions such as Miss William's disrespects those individuals truly making at effort at all smaller schools including GSU. Williams is making all of their students look even worse. Those of you who are defending her probably go to GSU. Don't you realize that her actions are making you look worse? Like another little tart at a community college that will get knocked up within her freshman year? Or a hoodlum that will end up hustling, having several baby mammas? Hello!?!? Defend yourself! Show everyone, if it is indeed true, that community college students are just as good as others. Until then, please stop responding to the independent newspaper of which school.....oh yeah....UGA....NOT GSU!

All of you who will tell me that I'm a horrible person for being insensitive are probably right, because I don't know Miss Williams, and therefore have no emotional sensitivity attached to the subject.
