Violent new movie a 'steaming pile of feminism'

Abstract:
Jodie Foster must have had delusions of Travis Bickle, the psychopath vigilante intent on blowing the scum off of New York City streets in Martin Scorsese's "Taxi Driver."

In the 1976 masterpiece, Foster plays a child prostitute that develops a relationship with Bickle (Robert De Niro) and becomes the catalyst for his murderous rampage....

Vicarious killing of criminals in a satisfying way is not new; it's one of John Woo's themes, among others. The problem is that in "real life" often the criminals are not apprehended (ie "get away with it"). Even if they are, many times are not convicted due to our shifting legal boundaries and a system based on interpretation and human error. Sentencing suffers from the same, including poorly instructed juries. (and some think Lethal Injection is cruel??? What about not only the victims but their loved ones!!!) This is especially true with rape and domestic violence. I wouldn't be surprised to see more vigilante justice off screen in the future.

Yikes, let's not drag feminism into this story. This movie is about fearful, agonizingly angry revenge, pure and simple. It doesn't really matter that the protagonist is a woman; any human being could relate to this victim/vigilante story.

I also suggest that you research the feminist movement, Mr. Hughes, as your definition here seems to be misguided and frankly, a little disturbing.

ps a woman shooting the gun doesn't make it femenism, and besides, that's the label YOU put on it!
