Containment policy needs revisions

Abstract:
Earlier this month, Iranian speedboats taunted U.S. warships in the Strait of Hormuz, off the coast of Iran, reaffirming the need to stop Iran's nuclear program. However, the current U.S. national security strategy toward Iran is containment, which potentially could harm the U....

"nor does it want nuclear weapons to wipe Israel off the map"... your wrong about that. ALL Muslims in this region would love to see every Jew die and Israel disappear. Whether they are willing to do it is another question but thats certainty what they want....they even tried it in the 1970's when Iran, Egypt, and Syria all attacked Israel who was vastly out numbered. Israel demolished all 3 nations armies forcing them to retreat and give up.
Talking to Iran and while not containing it just gives them more time to conceal/destroy whatever they have or further arm themselves. They are a known state sponsor of terrorist, they desire to kill all Americans if they could, they have no intention of complying with us...go read a history book. Diplomatic relations do not work in a country where they refuse to talk and where they view Americans as "infidels who must be slaughtered". Grow some balls and stop living in fantasy land where every gets along...its unrealistic.

J, I want you to go through your post and list the logical fallacies you use in your argument. Oh wait, to do so would be unrealistic. There simply are too many.

Your close-minded approach to the world is seriously lacking in validity. Sure some folks in the mid-east want to see the destruction of Israel..to think that ALL of them do is ignorant at best. Sure there are a lot of tensions, but a lot of moderate folks don't see it like you do, sitting here in Athens. And let's get something else straight. Iran's leadership may say some harsh things, but the Iranian people view America with a much more positive light than you give them credit. They love America.

You may need to read up on your history, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad repeatedly demonizes the state of Israel and openly calls for its destruction at every opportunity. Most notoriously, he described Israel as a "fake regime" that "must be wiped off the map."

Ahmadinejad is not the real leader of Iran..read up on your history. The Khomeini is the leader of Iran..Ahmadinejad is just a windbag. Sure he says horrible things, but he holds little to no power outside of Iran. We have inflated his power because of our reaction to his hideous rhetoric.

The Israeli extremists did not wait very long before attacking you. I hope you can still get accepted to grad schools -- you don't want to piss off AIPAC.

Well Ben C maybe you should open your history book back up because Ayatollah Khomeini died in 1989, and Ayatollah Khamenie replaced him as Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution in Iran.

"Iran's stance has always been clear on this ugly phenomenon (Israel). We have repeatedly said that this cancerous tumor of a state should be removed from the region," Khamenei told thousands of Muslim worshippers in Tehran.

The destruction of Israel has been a shared objective for Arab countries since Israel's independence in 1948. Only Egypt and Jordan currently recognize Israel due to peace treaties signed in 1979 and 1994.
