Alcohol Rehab

posted 12/22/08 @ 4:32 AM EST

I really think that many students would need an alcohol rehab in the campus... The society blames an alcoholic, but the paradox is that society does not blame college alcohol consumption... Everyone drinks in college and goes to parties, right? Right, but so wrong...

This program will accomplish as much as the alcohol awareness course that students must take before entering UGA: not much. If a student chooses to drink, no program will stop him or her. This is a waste of money, a waste of time, and a hilarious attempt by UGA or whoever may be in charge. Just think of the D.A.R.E programs from our elementary years; that didn't stop us. Now that we are less inclined to listen and obey, this program is supposed to make students consume less alcohol? or in reasonable quantities? If UGA wants to prevent drinking problems with their students, they should set higher standards and create more incentives, such as immediate expulsion if charged with underage consumption. As for drinking and driving there is no excuse. IF a person is stupid enough to drink themselves silly and then get into a car, that person needs to be shot. Freshman understand the consequences, they know what's at stake. They don't care! I didn't, and I still don't.
