Regents set to vote on temporary fee increase

Abstract:
The Board of Regents will decide today how to meet 8 percent budget cuts, and it could affect students immediately.

Two ideas under consideration could give the University clearance to tap students for an extra $100 in January.

One proposal is to eliminate policy 704....

I understand budget cuts and maybe raising student fees during this economic hard time. I know that the University is cutting some of the health insurance for employees, but I wonder if it is fair to shave a little percentage off of their salaries, especially the high paid ones. Do we need to pay some professors a large sum of money so their TA's can show us PowerPoint's? And do we need to pay administrators even more than professors to not listen to student input or please those that aren't even students?

Agreed! This is not about the $100. Who cares, it's just $100; in the long run, it's really not that much.

What I have a problem with is the prinicible of the matter. Why does the University have to use dishonest tactics to get what they want and completely disregard and violate our rights as students while doing so?

We've been cheated and lied to by the Administration. Shouldn't the University's priority be looking out for us, not using sleazy, immoral tactics to try to make a buck.
