Congratulations to the founding brothers of the Qasid Chapter with their first step in promoting a more diverse campus. I am 100% sure that this is only the beginning and these five dedicated men will continue to represent everything Lambda Simga Upsilon Latino Fraternity Incorporated stands for!
no theyre not gang signs..i see the ignorance that people out there have...just because they are latino, you are going to automatically assume they are "gang" signs...most minority greeks as well as some other mainstream greeks use handsigns for their organization...good job out there Qasid n good luck trying to get through to the ignorant people out there....
Get over yourself, NJ LSU Brother. You are the one that's obsessed with race here. I never bothered to mention it because I see people as individuals not as members or non-members of a given race.
I just wanted to give a big shout out to Qasid for making history in Georgia. I hope that you have much success on your campus and in your community with the education of our people. I encourage everyone to research about Greek life, before making assumptioms.

I'm proud of the gentlemen of the Qasid Chapter of Lambda Sigma Upsilon Latino Fraternity INCorporated! This is just only the beginning of promoting diversity and cultural awareness while influencing latinos and others on your campus. GOOD LUCK BROTHERS!
Alumnus, I would just like to know: given the fact that you didn't know what the hand signs were, why would you automatically assume that those are gang signs?
I am not calling you nor do I believe that you are ignorant, but I can understand how other people will perceive that statement as ignorant. In my opinion, you should have just inquired as to what those hand signs meant, instead of labeling them as "gang signs", which of course as we all know carries a negative connotation.
Regardless, let's not take the shine off of the newly established Qasid Chapter. My brothers, congratulations and I know you will all fully represent the ideals and goals of our great organization as you have brought LSU to the state of Georgia! Tight grips and much support from up north! TOO HYPE!

I'm proud to see my linebrothers doing it up big down in Georgia. Making big moves for the organization but also for the community in general. This is just the start of something greater for all of them. Keep it up
First of all, I would like to congratulate all organizations that are trying to help the University of Georgia recruit minority members, and students, in an effort to diversify the campus. However, as an educator and journalist, I must clarify some true facts:
"The University chapter of Lambda Sigma Upsilon was established early this month, making it the first chapter of the nationally recognized fraternity in the state of Georgia."
-The truth behind this statement is that Lambda Sigma Upsilon is the first chapter recognized by the University of Georgia.
-The first Latino fraternity recognized in the State of Georgia is Lambda Upsilon Lambda (located at Georgia Tech).
-Further, the first Latino fraternity was Phi Iota Alpha (though it did died out, and came back)
"We would like to be known as a culturally diverse organization," he said. "We welcome any nationality."
-Fact: Aren't all organizations culturally diverse now? Yes, we all have historical roots, and all are historically based something. The fact of the matter is, to date, all Greek organizations, rather mainstream, the Black, Multicultural, Asian, Indian, Latino, etc., we are all open to all nationalities.
