From the officer's report, we know nothing about where in the left lane of traffic Danny was standing. I see people standing on the edge of Clayton all the time while awaiting a cab, or a ride, a horse and buggy, or whatever. The real issue here is that a 23 year old man who was not acting belligerent refused to respect an officer's "authori-tah." The officer then became upset that he was unable to drown his sorrows after the Dawgs' pitiful performance earlier that night. The solution: pick on someone who was not standing on the sidewalk. What an ass.

I would be more sympathetic if the officer's report read: "Mr. Ware was standing in the middle of the road, and refused to move so that traffic could resume its normal flow."

Lastly, Pedestrian under the Influence...you have got to be kidding me! 90 percent of Athens is under the influence at 2:24 a.m. on Sunday morning!

Danny Ware is a hero. I would defend him for free if I had my bar scores back. This is one of the reasons I went to law school.

Several current Bulldogs are apparently following Danny Ware's example, hoping that they can be playing in the pros and drinking in Athens on game weekend, just like their good ole days. BUT a blood alcohol of .152, nearly twice the limit - isn't that supposed to be used if he had been driving a vehicle? If the story is accurate, the two of them were not causing any disturbance nor obstructing traffic so exactly what was the reason for the "stop"? Things must have been pretty slow in Athens at 2:24 AM Sunday morning. The fact that they did not move nor "acknowledge" the police car just might indicate that they didn't believe that they had done anything to cause any action on the part of the police.
