Cho sold Peach Bowl tickets to University students last winter

Abstract:
University juniors Casey Spivey and Patrick Dolan had contact with Virginia Tech shooter Seung-Hui Cho in a way they never anticipated - through eBay.

They purchased tickets from him for the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl between the University and Virginia Tech in December 2006....

First, I guess I should say that nothing should shock us anymore. However, people contacting people through eBay about ticket stubs is a little sick to me. Wanting to purchase ticket stubs sold by a mass murderer is even sicker.

What is wrong with people?

I realize that Spivey and Dolan want to sell the tickets and give the money to charity but that's not what should happen. They should burn them. The person that buys those ticket stubs is just a sick f celebrating Cho's "accomplishments" (in his mind anyway).

Guys, don't give sickos a memento of one of thier cult heroes. Burn the damn things just like Cho is burning right now.

Well, when Cho Egg Roll sold his football tix we should have known he was a little nutzo and done something about it then.

Making a biased comment based on someone's name, ethinicity or nationality is not appropriate. It makes people judge YOU as ignorant and small minded. Please stop giving Georgia a bad name. Thank you.

I'm with donnie on this one. I think it's noble that there would be charitable donations, but dont give the sicko any more attention or twisted fame- he needs to be erased from memories, even if just in physical momentos.

This is just a dumb idea. I'm not sure the two gentlemen who are planning on selling the ticket stub really thought this one through. I'm sure the families of the victims we'll be thrilled and filled with joy upon receiving the seventy-five dollars the stub may go for. Come on guys think this one thorough. Do us all a favor: rip the ticket up, throw it away, and stop making the man who murdered thirty-two people into a celebrity.

what i need to know is exactly why would someone buy these tickets other than to have some type of connection with a mass murderer!?!... the whole concept is sick! and then the idea of giving to victims' families the money spent by a psycho to collect sick memorabilia is not a great one to me. If you really want to make donations make them out of your own pocket, don't use the "macabre value" of those tickets to do it.
Cho wanted a 'minute of fame'... and all these senseless actions are providing just that to him.

HOW IS THIS NEWS???????? Word on the street is that Cho also bought a value meal from Burger King a few months back. Can we get a comment from the cashier? Also, why would anyone BUY these tickets???

This is a fantastic response. I agree with Moe: How is this news? The Red and Black needs to find different subjects for articles that are RELEVANT. Here, I'll give you an idea "writers": how about an article about how the SLC is always packed and you can never get rooms, similar to my current situation?

This is sick. The best thing to do with those stubs is throw them away. I'm embarrassed that 2 kids from our school would even think of doing something so unethical like this. We need to stop focusing on this killer and focus on how great these kids were whose lives were taken away by this senseless act.

I don't care if you are giving the money to charity, selling those ticket stubs is wrong and sends the wrong message. Be real and BURN THEM. Burn them on video and post it if you want, but selling them and being offered money already for them is slimy and wrong.

NO,NO,NO !!! These two gentlemen may think that to sell these tickets would be a grand and noble gesture --but further analysis of the situation indicates that this is NOT the way to assist the families affected by the VT tragedy !!! We should ALL think about our actions, being mindful of the fact that we DO NOT want to bring unnecessary attention regarding this twisted, demented person !!! I think that despite the money that these guys lost, it would be best for all concerned to BURN (totally destroy) these tickets. This may sound simplistic -- BUT, it's the right thing to do !!

Can't seem to get this issue out of my mind, made up a poll so that maybe these kids can see it and realize they should not put a value on those tickets, not even for charity.

Typical Red & Black. Two college meatheads purchasing football tickets makes front-page news. This story is completely irrelevant to the whole Virginia Tech situation (which, by the way, is not news anymore). I doubt that this past transaction had anything to do with the shooter's future actions, and it definitely does not help any of us forget about this man who does not deserve to be remembered. It sounds more like a couple of kids exploiting a tragedy for their fifteen minutes of fame, to me.

"Caught in the middle?" ...right.

Congratulations, you're in posession of something Cho might've touched. Here's your school newspaper story and 15 seconds of fame. Enjoy.

Ridiculous. (Though, not as ridiculous as whoever ends up buying the ticket stub...nor as ridiculous as the guy who felt it necessary to email them about the sale)

How is this news? We have passed the point where people are concerned about the tragedy to the point where every news source, from Fox News to the Red and Black, is milking the story for all its worth. Now that the story has run dry, reporting on tangents such as this.

For the love of the victims, please, let the wounds heal.

with the two smilin' daisies in the picture, what more do you expect. cut your bangs, toss the tix, lock down your finances. pop 'n lock.

Wow, that little schizo loner wanted to go to a football game? That's surprising! Most paranoid lunatics wouldn't even dare think of doing that, let alone obtaining a couple of tickets and then selling them for probably 50% more than what he paid for them. Oh, well you did the right thing and donated the proceeds to a victims family charity. Still my question is who was he originally(planning on)going to go to the game with? His imaginary girlfriend called Jelly? Did she bail out on him at the last minute?
