Fu did everything wrong if the article about his arrest is factually correct.

1. He drove the wrong way on a one way ramp.
2. He drank before driving.
3. He argued with a cop.

Doing these three things SHOULD get you thrown in jail. Just because you thought he was a nice teacher, doesn't mean he's above the law.

And I'm not so sure how much you'd want to defend a violent criminal, teacher or not.

Your post sounds like what the cop that arrested Dr. Fu would say...if he were writing a post. Been sipping the Cool-Aid at ACC Police headquarters?

In response to the letters about Mr. Fu's fubar... what is distressing is how people will defend someone like him and talk about how distressing it is that the paper will post information about the incident that jeopardizes their dignity... the facts are clear.. Fu drove the wrong way up an exit ramp onto the 10 loop ... this is the type of behavior that will get the attention of a police officer... when stopped, it was found that Fu had been drinking... drink and driving is against the law... Fu jeopardized his own dignity when he decided to drink alcohol and then drive... that is that...

It never ceases to amaze me how people will chastise the police for doing their job... and these two schmoe's from the geography department (apparently it took two of them to write a letter about this) need to go back under their rocks because comments like theirs always come from people who have been arrested before and don't want to accept responsibility for their choices, instead trying to place blame on others... projection ...

I don't know... maybe the cop should've thought about the Math Dept. head's reputation and dignity and not stopped him from possibly killing someone on the 10 loop... I guess there's not AS much traffic on there at that hour... it might have come out ok... who knows...

I for one am glad that the cops are out there keeping irresponsible, selfish, and arrogant drunks off the roads... I know some cops and know that most of them barely make enough money to live on for keeping the rest of society safe from people like Fu and Fu probably makes a 6 figure salary... With all the budget cuts that have been going on lately, what the University should do is fire Fu and give his big fat salary to the Universtiy Police Dept.
