Mark Spencer sounds a bit of an ass and a dinosaur. Thanks for keeping us informed. Athletics seems to have something in common with politics and law enforcers - they seem to think they are above the law.

this is just appalling all around. First that these men are still receiving University money after having been found guilty of sexual harassment is just bad in itself.
But worse, just anyone involved in this seems like such a scumbag. I can't believe President Adams would vouch for this douche.
Finally, this just goes to show you how seriously people take sexual harassment... not at all.

Holy Cow!

Did you get a copy of the contract? It would seem that a validated complaint would override the contract. Anyway, the University would look a lot better if it was defending itself from the former golf coach -- should he sue to get paid. Oh, and those names on the resume may belie some of the stuff Adams said about "changing the culture." Nice article but, remember, you aren't really the National Enquirer, or are you?

at least his sucky 2.5% raise will be enough to cover the parking increase.

where to apply?

Where do prospective employees apply to engage in such behavior and then get paid that much for doing it?

The next time President Adams states that he's not sure where the funding will come from for initiatives like expanded on-campus child care or a women's center, I will have an answer! Thanks for this well-written (and disturbing) article.

Yes, McCorkle's salary plus Clarence Thomas' speaking fees. Thanks for your good work, Red and Black.

Great article. Very well written. The students need to be pro-active in holding the administration accountable. Well done.

You may want to correct your graphic. McCorkle is not faculty and thus not paid from UGA's operating budget so the previous comment about Adams finding funding is not even relevent. The Athletic Association operates as a business and has even turned a profit in the past few years. This means they raise their own money and can use it how they want. So, McCorkle being on salary may look bad but really the only people who are paying for it are the donors to the Athletic Association and not the students. That is why the athletic facility next to Stegman shot up so quickly while other construction projects (i.e. Tate II) have to wait on funding.

I am shoked that after McCorkle's inappropriate behavior came to light he still managed to not only get another job, but his new boss, General manager Mark Spencer, does not seem to care that the man he recently hired has a history of sexually harassing students. Shame on Michael Adams and Damon Evans for supporting McCorkle. I am embarrassed UGA has not taken a stronger stance on ending sexual harassment, and disturbed the problem seems to be not just isolated to UGA.

are you serious when saying :"At Valdosta State University, the entry salary for the identical title is $29,084 with a maximum payout of $43,625 - about $50,000 less than McCorkle's bankroll."?

remember that time uga said we didn't have any money and in order to keep from laying people off, we had to raise tuition??????????? why are we wasting THIS money?????? sure, the $200,000 we're wasting on people doing nothing isn't probably much to a university of our size, but it could go SOMEWHERE.....

Unbelievable! Another example of the libral attutude in our colleges toward perversion. And it's disgusting how money is wasted when the students and their families are having a tough time paying for college expenses.

As someone who worked at the UGA golf course while Todd was there i can say this.... Todd was a great guy, Those girls would cut up and laugh with him and say some of the rauchiset things to him. They were like family. its a shame that his name was ruined by a player who though she wasnt getting the playing time she though she deserved. and trust me, i saw them play all the time....she didnt dersrve it.
