Youth apathy dangerous in politics

Abstract:
Ignorance is bliss." Unfortunately, many young Americans have applied that famous saying toward their political views. As a student of politics and Center Director for the Roosevelt Institution, a student run think tank, I find this incredibly disturbing. For some reason young voters, including almost all of us here at the University, have taken a particularly distant approach to American government, despite our overwhelming potential for change....

Just so your facts are straight, Rock the Vote is not an MTV organization. It is owned and funded by three very rich, liberal families. Also Declare Yourself is different from Project Vote Smart. Just look at the website, www.declareyourself.com. Only Declare Yourself is Norman's.

Also, what do you think would make student more inclined to be politically active?

I tried to research your claim that Rock the Vote "is owned and funded by three very rich liberal families" but could not find anything. So what are their names and what is your source of information??

According to the website, "Rock the Vote is founded by members of the recording industry in response to a wave of attacks on freedom of speech and artistic expression".

What would make students more inclined to be politically active:

1) Realizing that some people are trying to deny students the right to vote:

2) Re-instatement of the draft.
Republican Senator Chuck Hagel last week that "the nation may need to turn to compulsory military service 'or some kind of draft' to support the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan."

The get out the vote organizations are horrible because they encourage people to vote without education about the voting process, or what they are voting for or who the candidates are or how to get involved in deciding WHO GETS ON THE BALLOT. It's stripped of all substance.
