This important laboratory could be continued if those in charge of the University of Georgia and the State of Georgia would demonstrate a little leadership for a change, instead of always appearing at the federal government trough, expecting someone else to pay for it. Why not eliminate all political science departments at all colleges in the University System, since all they do is teach people how to lie to a gullible and unwitting public? Why not reduce the size of the bloated law school at UGA since there is no shortage of lawyers anyway and all they do is add to human misery by increasing the number of outrageous rules for citizens to be fined for not following and wasting valuable time on frivolous lawsuits or lawsuits with government which usually cannot succeed due to the tyranny of government, or adding to an already tyrannical government and "legal" system which differs little from a Mafia; after all, the federal regulations alone are a whole wall in the law library? Or why not disband the College of Education which has been providing the incompetent principals and superintendents of our public schools for years, usually former coaches, like the one who recently fired the physics teacher in Gwinnett County whose misdeed was to discipline a student for sleeping in class! These are just a few examples. Many others could be contemplated, like the enormous effort spent on sports and other entertainment at the so-called "University" of Georgia in place of setting an example that students and others spend time studying and discussing the vital issues of the day.
Or, why not substitute some of that money wasted on numerous pork projects of state legislators for important laboratories like this?
The point is that all the officials in Georgia really care about is government money and the outrageous amounts they can siphon off of such grants under the guise of "overhead", usually over 50%. Knowledge, truth and understanding really do not figure into the equation in Georgia. Actions speak louder than words.
