The Gameday Experience

Abstract:
On Saturdays in the fall, every green patch of grass and gray sidewalk corner is transformed into a sea of red and black. From the pageantry of the Dawg Walk to the Battle Hymn of the Bulldog Nation, there are many traditions that make Georgia football unique and memorable....

If I could add a corollary to the last DON'T:
DON'T start fights with other Georgia fans. Take out your drunken aggression -- or good old-fashioned hatred -- on screaming for the Dawgs or against our opponents. Just don't aim your fists and insults at your fellow Georgia fans. That's ridiculous.

I think I hear a lone trumpet playing seven notes. And I can taste the bourbon already. There aint nothing like being a Dawg on Saturday afternoon.

Thanks for outlining the behaviors that we need to display prior to/during/after the games !! Including the unacceptable colors which, if worn on "gameday" are indicative of traitors !! Amazing !! However..in retrospect .. these behaviors do make sense !!
It would be great if we could eject non-compliant "fans" for a lengthy expanse of time !!!!!

UGA VII could bite them in the rump as they attempt to make their escape !! WOOOOOF!! GO DAWWWWGS !!!

I look forward to the sarcastic remarks which are forthcoming !!

Good introduction to gameday, but I would have changed one word:

DO cheer loudly for the Bulldogs, *ONLY* when we are on defense.

Cheering on offense, like the author says, disrupts the playcalling. That's fine if it's the other team, but when our guys have the ball, the stadium should be DEAD SILENT. They'll thank you later.

Also, open container laws aren't in effect on gamedays... Awesome, huh?

Yes, they are. Quite a few people are ticketed each game day because of this.

Also, R&B, come on. You write "Going to the game at least an hour before kickoff ensures you a good seat" when you known damn well that all seats for all games are RESERVED. Please don't encourage people to squat others people's good seats just because they arrived at the stadium early.
I had to move people out of my seats at each game last year because of this ongoing notion that the student section is a free for all.

In my opinion, you forgot one important thing:
DO NOT leave Sanford Stadium early. Whenever I was at Sanford during my stay at UGA, I saw crowds of people leaving before the 4th quarter was over - even when the Dawgs were winning. If you really bleed red and black, why don't you stay until the end and let the team know what great job they did? That can be the extra piece of motivation for the team to decide between winning the SEC Championship (not to mention the National Championship) and playing like the UT game last season.

Couldn't agree more! Being in the stands for the dawgs when the game's over gives em an extra boost going back into the locker room. It's much more rewarding celebrating a win in front of a packed house. The tailgate isn't going anywhere. Wait til the end of the game!
