Zinkhan's body found, covered in a shallow grave

Abstract:
The worldwide search for University professor George M. Zinkhan ended Saturday morning in a shallow grave less than two miles from where it started a fortnight ago.

Led there by the noses of Madison, an Australian shepherd, and Circe, a German Shepherd, members of the Alpha Search team unearthed Zinkhan's decomposing body. Covered with dirt and leaves, the hidden body was found aside two handguns a mile from where his 2005 Jeep Liberty was discovered and two miles from his home in Bogart, where he was last seen dropping off his children April 25....

While ice and dangerous conditions in March were scoffed at by Adams, who figured college students could handle a little bit of ice (while he was holed up sipping hot cocoa by the fire), he commends the UGA police for standing around with rifles when unnecessary for the "safety" of the UGA community.

I'm relieved that the body has been found, but there could have been no happy closure for this story. I just pray for the friends and families of the victims and George Zinkhan, but especially for the children who will live with this sadness for the rest of their lives.

I agree with Beth, I feel horrible for their children and can't imagine what they are feeling. We can only pray for them and the families this terrible event is impacting. Does anyone know how old his children are? I'm not from Athens and haven't heard. Either way, no child regardless of age, should have to deal with this kind of tragedy. God be with them and the world full of evil.

His children are 10 and 8. I have also heard he has two grown children from a previous marriage, but I do not know the validity of that fact. Prayers are certainly in order for the families affected by this tragedy. I hope this at least gives them a small amount of closure.

on may 1, the oconee sheriff's office surrounded my house at 4:00am. they and the gbi told me that they had found a mapquet.com map in george zinkhan's jeep earlier that morning. i was advised to go into hiding and i did so until wednesday of this week.

we'll never know the full story, but i have told you as colleagues, multiple department heads, multiple deans, and multiple provosts that george zinkhan was dangerous. and i do not believe that zinkhan had a map to my house for any reason other than he had planned to kill me as well on april 25 (the map was printed out the night before). this also suggests premeditation for the three murders he did commmit. by the grace of god, i was at the movies all saturday afternoon on april 25 after being at school in my office (like a sitting duck) all that morning.

many people in this college and this department have known about zinkhan's "troubled past" and did nothing about it. those people also bear responsibility here.

oh for god's sake, you idiot. we already know all about you and your "reward" for harassing non-american colleagues. you were NOT worth his time. there WAS no "troubled past" and you are just once again wanting attention: look at ME, ME, ME!!! go away and screw yourself.

Professor Carroll should really proof her posts. Terrible grammar, punctuations, spelling. Perhaps the "mapquet.com" map in Zinkenpoop's Jeep was there so that he could find his way to her house, and provide grade five langauge arts remediation.

First off, mapquet? What the hec are you thinking lady? Before you even THINK of going and writing something like that, go back to college. Seriously, not kidding. :P

Not here to defend Caroll at all, nor her tone above, but if that story is true, it makes the whole heartbreaking story additionally f'd up.

Can the R&B verify this account with GBI?

I really think we all need to take a look at the competence of all of the authorities that were involved in this. I live near the search area and it is extremely hard for me to fathem that they had "missed" this supposed grave. Where was the pile of dirt that had to be laying next to the hole? I am disappointed. There is more to this outcome then meets the eye, whether we will ever know what really happened, is another question.

As for the OCSO's response to Professor Carroll's home, I can confirm that she is essentially correct. The FBI did notify the OCSO of a Mapquest search for Professor Carroll's home believed to be conducted by Professor Zinkhan.

The OCSO did respond to a request by the FBI to conduct a welfare check of Professor Carroll. This request came shortly after Professor Zinkhan's vehicle was found.

OCSO personnel responded to her residence during the night and maintained a watch on it until contact was made with Professor Carroll later in the morning.

Professor Carroll was interviewed by the GBI, and she did go into hiding for several days.

UGA personnel matters are internal to UGA. Any questions concerning those matters should be addressed to the proper UGA officials.

Good to see that these comments about Carroll are still here. ABH pulled all the comments about her from the story (link below) last Sunday. My question is,if Carroll was "so afraid of Zinkhan" is Why didn't she come forward the day of the murders? Then a week later a mapquest map was found in Z's jeep.Who printed the map? From what computer(uga or Z's home computer? Did Marie Bruce print the map?Was Carroll communicating with Marie about divorce testimony against George Zinkhan? It's a tragedy and somebody's attention seeking big mouth might have stirred up enough stink until finally Z stunk.
