Speaking privileges at these meetings are restricted to Board members, as with most executive committees....

You want to understand the dynamic that creates tax cuts for the ultra rich in the state and then budget cuts for the rest of us?

Shouldn't the STUDENT Gov't Association be representing us the STUDENTS? This is about the equivalent of the US Congress supporting a $700 billion bailout without following the proper procedures and without putting the proper stipulations for safe guarding OUR money.
It's a slap in the face for SGA to call for "creative ideas to reduce consumption and cut costs " from the students, since these "creative ideas" should have already been in place before.

What proper procedures are you referring to? The last time I checked, congress followed normal operating procedures (which can change EACH session, as determined by the rules committees) these procedures are not determined by us, nor are they set into stone in the U.S> Constitution.

UGA or any other University or College is not a democracy or a republic for that matter. You really don't have a say in anything that is done with the money they collect for tuition or student fees, etc. Simply because once the money changes hands, any decision making ability also changed with it.

However, regulations and guidelines do stipulate that any funding received through fees must be used for what they were intended to be used for.

John are you sleeping with Connor? Nothing you said actually refuted what Diana said. She didn't say anything illegal happened, she just shares the common sentiment that SGA is full of assholes if the best they can do instead of organize demonstrations or petition drives or strikes is simply say, "Lay down, take it up the ass, and EMAIL US IDEAS ABOUT HOW TO TAKE IT UP THE ASS."

If you would have actually read what was written, I did not attempt to refute her comments.

I was asking for clarification of what exactly was meant by "proper procedures and proper stipulations?"

For you to believe that anyone at the universities has to do anything you want them to do is about as asinine as believing that congress, let alone SGA, has to do anything you want them to do. They are elected representatives, they do not have to do your bidding. However, they know if they want to stay in office after the next election they better try to make you as minimally happy as they can.

Actually, what the hell was the point of this column?

It seems as if there was actually no fucking point to writing this. It's more of a news item than opinion piece. It doesn't actually have anything about what SGA plans to do. In fact, what the fuck is the point of even having them? They seem to be fine standing by the sidelines and relaying orders from the BOR. Sounds like Adams can do that just fine by himself.

Just an FYI...The Jan 22nd date isn't "new" or an "extention". This is the absolutely last date you can pay your tuition/fees to avoid being dropped from your Spring classes for non-payment. So, it's not like you can just wait and pay a late fee...by Jan 22nd, it's already late and this is your last chance. If you dont pay it, plan to fork out an additional $150 to get your schedule reinstated.

I just wish the SGA would've done something. I know the conference was "closed to student speaking" or whatever but c'mon. Some of us can barely afford to stay in college with scholarships, much less pay another fee. Now I'm scrambling to find an extra $250. The least Adams and his cohorts could've done was give us some advance notice.

Surely there's another way to do this that doesn't involve treating your students, faculty, and staff like utter crap.
