NO more! It's time to cut him loose! He obviously is either a slow learner or just thinks his status as a basketball player makes him immune to obeying the law. He is living out someone else's dream, someone who might behave AND get the job done on the court. Three strikes are enough - we don't need to read about the number of suspensions; if Coach Felton is the man I think he is, we'll be reading that Humphrey is no longer on the team and the university needs to make his spot in the classroom available to someone else. SOME people never learn that alcohol controls THEM rather than the other way around. I thought the concealed weapons charge was a bit over the line, but this disregard for the law and for his own safety and the safety of others by driving under the influence should be the last straw. So long Billy, I hope you get your life under control before it's too late.

Time to cut him loose. I thought Felton had cleaned up all the trash on this team.

Billy is not 21. How long has anyone been in college, away from home, etc. in going to and from college during your life and somehow broke the law? Did you speed going and coming? When did you have your first beer, smoked a cigarette, smoked mj to be a part of a crowd and return home later without the cops picking you up? I got hit for speeding 3 times in one yr and had my license suspended for 6 mos when a teenager. Also the drinking age in Ga was lowered to 18 at one time since you could die for your country and you could drink in the service at that age. Taken alone , Billy's offences aren't as terrible as you want to collectively believe. If you had the media placing your indiscretions on national news like Billy's wouldn't that be tough on your family and friends. Obviously he needs help if he blows a .02 and .03. If we as a University want to use him for athletic prowess to enhance the school's name then we owe him a minder or on campus with the team if his family can't help. Come on Dawgs! Lets get behind one of us instead of throwing him under the train. How about an athletics AA to inform Billy he is one of us,therefore he should be embraced and helped as one of our family? The guy's life is upside down and he is a fellow Dawg. Do something, but don't judge him. He gets plenty of that from Tech fans who don't want to play against him and are using you to increase the drag on his life. Don't we have departments that teach students social sciences and selfhelp? Where are we when Billy needs us after we call on him to help us win? As long as Billy is a Dawg, Damon Evans on down to team members and students share some responsibility to help if you can. Do it!

Although your post is well meaning, I think maybe you are confused about the scale of breathalyzers. .02 and .03 are incredibly low. Had he been 21, it wouldn't be considered a DUI. The legal driving limit in GA is a .08, which is still pretty low (a lot of states have a .10 limit). Not that our low legal limit is a bad thing--it's good. This is just to give you a frame of reference. For someone his size, a .02 and .03 would be the equivalent of MAYBE a beer. Bad decisions? Yes. But to say that these incidents are necessarily indicative of a drinking problem may be a little exaggerated.

Another GA Snot dawg making all real universities look better by comparison. I wonder if they will ever catch "knowshun" with his cocaine?

A couple of things for you...

1) what are you doing reading OUR newspaper? Don't you have anything better to do? 2) You're a DOG, dog. WE'RE the Dawgs. 3) I BELIEVE we're a much better university than Fresno State is... check the rankings. 4) It's KNOWSHON, thanks.

ANYWAY... Billy messed up. Haven't you seen the lists of people who get arrested every day? Yeah, thought so. The only reason this is any different is because he is an athlete. I am by no means defending him since driving under the influence could seriously injure somebody else, but the only reason I have a soft spot for him is because I personally know and love some people who have been in trouble for MIPs and DUIs.
