Just wanted to say that I am glad the Georgia Theatre burned to the ground. It sucked as a venue. They never had any good acts coming in there any more. I'm betting a dollar that the owner committed some fraud burnt the place down to collect all the insurance money; not rebuild; and keep the difference.

Man how low is that? you're just pissed that you were the only one wearing jean shorts when you went there. You should be sodomized with a rusty tire iron you vile piece of foreskin filth

That's probably the rudest thing I've ever read. If you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say it at all. This is an icon for Athens, GA, and many amazing bands have graced this stage. I sure hope they can rebuild it.

Wow. You just captured the ignorance of the entire UF population with those few sentences. Fortunately for you, Tim Tebow and Woman's softball provide all of the entertainment your campus can handle, because you sure as hell don't have a music scene. MOFRO might as well be The Dead in that shit box of a town. Go back to tipping cows & making out with your sister (while, of course, wearing jean shorts), and don't bother concerning yourself with the news stories of [hands down] the best college town IN THE COUNTRY. douche.

No good acts coming in, have you ever heard of a little band called WIDESPREAD PANIC?...or REM or BB King? or possibly Phish? You should be ashamed of yourself for disrespecting such a beautiful venue filled with the memories of bands who have their roots in Athens such as WSP and REM and those who have attended shows there...this is a tremendous loss to both the artists and fans.

In short,if your house burnt down, I'm pretty sure you wouldn't appreciate people saying that about you... especially if your house held the memories that this venue did for all who played and attended... I hope that it is rebuilt and restored to its original beauty. Anyone who is "glad" a site like this burnt down is truly hateful and pathetic...oh and possibly musically retarded.

Dear Go Gators....the only thing that would have been cool about the Georgia Theatre burning down is if you had been inside when it happened & were unable to escape. Honestly, this was a great loss of an iconic music landmark which I hope can be restored to its original glory...

What a tremendous loss...We just lost a huge historic value of Athens. As a transfer student at UGA, I never had a chance to go watch a performance at the theatre. I'm very sad...

and Go gators...You are so disgusting!
