Abstract:
Treat everyone with dignity, respectOn Friday evening, I was downtown when I witnessed an incident that left me very unsettled. An elderly homeless gentleman asked a young man for money. Instead of replying, "No, Sorry" or "Sure, here's $1," the young man began to ask the man repeatedly to "give him one good reason to give him money" in a tone of voice that was repulsive in its assumed superiority....

I completely agree with you Caitlin!! but given that it would probably be hard to schedule all September college games in the evening (due to big tv contracts of course) i think the blame is on the overpriced beverages and absence of water fountains. The average 'broke' student is very likely to go the length of the game without buying a drink and risk dehydration. but again... what is a few passed out fans to the university as long as the bux are coming in?!

You're right Caitlin. I was unconscious by the third quarter. But that was mainly due to the large amount of bourbon I snuck in. College - no parents.

Mary,

The old man is a bum, and has lost his opportunity to receive respect. When he is a productive member of society, he probably won't encounter such demeaning scenarios. Until then, I suggest you, and other "do-gooders," stop enabling this class of people.

First of all, who peed in your Wheaties little one? You don't know why he is homeless. Don't act like you know the whole world and it's troubles. We don't have to give him money, but we should have respect. The easiest thing to do it say nothing and keep walking. We aren't enabling him by ignoring him. No one has lost their opportunity to receive our respect just because we have it better than they do. Our society is a hierarchy that enables those at the top to feel better than the weaker ones and the ones who don't do as well. Now take the pool stick out of your ass.

I agree with you but it is the sad truth that if you have the hours at UGA...you can possibly get what you want. On the contrary, I have well over 130 UGA hours and I don't have a parking space or good student tickets (not even close). My suggestion would be to take a full load every semester (including Maymester) and you may make your way up the line. Although it is highly unlikely that things at UGA will be fair...we can only wish. If they paid for and somehow managed to get those seats...they're not going to give them up. At least you got the tickets...many others didn't. There's really nothing you can do to change the situation....you've probably only given the girls more motive to piss you off.

I'm sorry Lauren, but that is just a lie. I only have 119 UGA hours and I got every home ticket, every away ticket, and a parking spot. Of course, I'm also in a frat and I heard Adams really favors Greek organizations. Or...was that the other way around?

To Lauren 'True Fan' Johnston... if you're a Junior, you should know by now that UGA football games are not about football... they are an event for all the self-glorified, attention hungry, booze hound social whores... just like the two girls you described... probably wearing their best party dress and heels... if you really want to watch the game, you should stay at home and watch it on tv ... and stop interfering with them trying to be seen and drinking themselves into unconsciousness ...

To Caitlin... get serious... late games do nothing except give these idiots more time to get completely trashed before the game even starts... drinking alcohol dehydrates and these morons are not interested in drinking water.. that's why they are passing out... and if you think the university or the greedy athletic dept are the least bit concerned about that, you are delusional... they are all about making as much money as possible off these games...

We prefer sorostitutes and fratstars. That way when you see me (this is Evan typing now) with some hot skeeze like Frannie you can say, "damn man, that fratstar gets to go home with that hot ass sorostitute and all I have is old righty and the sounds of my dorm rat roomie hooking up with his highschool girlfriend". This is exponentially easier than using "self-glorified, attention hungry, booze hound social whores". Lauren- I agree wholeheartedly with you. I too have been hassled by people who obviously had no interest whatsoever in a football game.

It seems like a pretty easy fix to me. Stop issuing student tickets for a specific seat. Almost no one sits where they're supposed to anyhow, so why can't they just make all student sections General Admission? If you're really interested in having a great seat, you'll show up plenty early and stay the whole game.

Alright this is ridiculous...I'm one of the girls who Lauren Johnston was referring to in her letter so let's get a few things straight:

1. I'm not in a sorority
2. I arrived at the game late because I worked that morning
3. I hadn't been drinking, tailgating, etc. See above
4. I was fine sitting anywhere but the only room was in the aisle. Everyone knows how the event staff feel about this. After several admonitions, one of the attendants insisted I sit in my seat and escorted me there. I DID NOT ask him to kick anyone out of their seats
5. I left after 15 mins because I was sick of being harassed by Ms. Johnston and switched sections

Perhaps Ms. Johnston should recall the old saying about assumptions; it makes an ass out of you and me? Well in this case it only applies to her

Hey Evan Chambers is a D-bag and Casey is a ho. Anyway, I just wanted to point out that the elite students of the University aka Greeks receive block seating based on the fact that we are better than all of you peasants. This means we get entire sections for us and not just one seat like all of you other people. Evan does have a good point because Rebecca is one of the hottest freshman that every sorority was trying get and I take that puuu to the house nightly. Those hot sorostitutes want nothing to do with the lower class dorm rats or the losers that live at The Lodge. They want that D when they are leaving B-Street and guess who is there to give it to them? Me and my frat bros!!! Booooya

Wow. Are you serious. I'm sure you get the good stuff all the time don't you and the nurses at the health center are going to love to see you in six weeks when they have to shove that big stick up your "D" because cause you caught something besides a "sorostitute" on "B-Street". Grow up!

Obviously you hook up with non-greeks aka ugly sleees. Yeah I might get a few STD's, but I'm bonin the finest ho's on campus and it is well worth it. How I am going to pressure release with a fat girl or a non-greek? Not possible. I'm just going to keep living the dream while you have wet ones.

Somebody told me to check out these comments, because my name was mentioned. I figured it was some attention seeker that was throwing my name out there because of who my dad was. But no, it's you! Let me be the first to tell everyone that yes, Cappie does have the evil crotch rot from a fine slee he picked up at B Stree. Regardless, he has bagged more hot sorostitutes than you can imagine. Yager at The Street goes a long way. I know it worked on me my first time there.

Kyle, you simply wouldn't understand this because you're too busy hanging out at Flanagan's and I'm sure The Chapel before it was closed. You could never seal the deal with a hot ZBZ or any sorority for that matter. Keep using condoms and see how many chicks that gets you. ZBZ's want the real deal!

Because of the great nation we live in, we have the right to show opposition. If some bum comes up to me and asks me for a dollar, I have every right to make him give me "one good reason". IT IS MY DOLLAR. The scum that infest the strrets of Athens piss me off. Get a job and stop begging. Are you telling me that a single mother of 5 can hold down a job but somebody who "has been put down by God" can't (a direct quote from a parasite in parking lot N09). BULLSHIT. These "people" have no right to ask me for my hard earned money. These guys that roam the streets begging make more money than both of you parents in one fiscal year, because people like you enable them to act in such a way. Instead of feeling bad for the crazy old guy who claims he is a NAM WAR VET, lets make them take responsiblity for their life, in doing so, cleaning up our steets.

You're 100% right. When you get to the game 45 min early, you deserve the best seat in the section. The same thing happened next to me at the top of 110 half way through the 1st Q. So that fat beast that was dropping f-bombs and threatening to have people kicked out, can have her stupid seats... her two boyfriends were SLEEPING after 20 minutes and she disappeared sometime in the 3rd Q.
