Uga VI is in his final resting place.
The Georgia mascot was interred in Sanford Stadium aside the five previous mascots during a ceremony in front of a small crowd Monday afternoon. He entered the stadium on the back of a golf cart while "The Battle Hymn of the Bulldog Nation" was played.
The dog's owner, Frank "Sonny" Seiler attended the ceremony but did not speak. The Rev. Claude McBride, a former football team chaplain, presided, and University President Michael Adams made some opening remarks.
After offering a prayer, McBride ended with the words: "Sic 'em, Uga. Woof, woof! Amen."
Uga VI died from heart failure Friday in his hometown of Savannah. The winningest mascot in the University history compiled an 87-27 record during his tenure, and the team captured both the 2002 and 2005 SEC Championships and won six of eight bowl games over that span.
Many flower arrangements were sent, including one from the mascot at the University of Arkansas, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.
