The 7th Annual Sunflower Farm Festival
A great way to celebrate Independence Day in the South. Activities include "Cut Your Own Sunflowers" for $10, hayrides and demonstrations by heritage artisans. Live music plays throughout the day and Southern specialty foods are served.
When: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday

Cost: $5 (Children under 12 are free with paid adult)

Madison-Morgan Cultural Center Independence Day Concert and Picnic
on the Lawn

featuring the Atlanta Symphony Brass Quintet
It is the grand finale of the Madison Chamber Music Festival. After the concert, everyone can go to watch the fireworks show only a mile away.

Oconee County's 8th Annual Fourth of July Heritage Celebration
An opportunity to purchase artwork by local artists, listen to live music and celebrate with the community.

Ashford Manor Concerts on the Lawn

The Sand Bar - Kayaking on the Broad River
A chance to kayak down the Broad, only 20 minutes from Athens.
When: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekends, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays
Where: Hwy. 172 west of Bowman on King Hall Mill Road
Cost: $15 (weekdays), $20 (weekends)
