UGA student, who just graduated, dies in car accident

It was one of the happiest weeks for Miley Elizabeth Duvall - not only did she celebrate her birthday but she also finished her undergraduate degree at the University of Georgia.

Two days later, it was nothing but sadness for her friends and family. Duvall died Saturday afternoon after she lost control of her car on Interstate 85 in Douglas County. She had just turned 23 years old.

Georgia State Patrol Operator Dean Wood said Duvall, of Tiger in Rabun County, was killed at 5:20 p.m. near I-85's Mile Marker 169, according to the Anderson Independent Mail.

A northbound 2002 Mini Cooper ran onto the highway's shoulder, causing Duvall to lose control of the vehicle, which rolled over and came to rest on its roof, Wood told the newspaper.

Hannah Redd, 22, of Douglasville suffered visible injuries, Wood told the Independent Mail. Her condition is not immediately known. Wood said weather and alcohol were not factors in the crash.

Duvall's Facebook site was flooded with messages from friends unable to shake the shock of her sudden death. "You are amazing and a true example of a light to the world," wrote recent UGA graduate Brooke Flanagan. "You did so much to touch us all and will be missed."

"I will never forget you, Miley, and your bright happy spirit that you always brought to those around you," wrote UGA grad Cheri Singleton.
